I think they instruct them to find the nearest rock and slither under it!

Were visits to the library an important part of your childhood?
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow bibliophiles:.
i remember how sad i was, as a little child, when our beloved carnegie library was razed (unsafe, structurally).
the same tragedy occurred when we moved to a new town and that similar architectural treasure was demolished to put up a new and gleaming building of steel and glass.

I was a voracious reader. The library was my sanctuary. I had to ride my Schwinn stingray bike almost three miles to get to the library. after spending the day Saturday reading there, I checked out as many books as allowed and devoured them when I got home. (Over the next few weeks). Invariably I had over due fees. My mom was livid. She would drive me to return them and I would get more. I loved biographies! Not bad for 11 and 12 years old. My fascination with short stories and science fiction was huge. When in Jr. High I would cut Spanish class to go to the library and read. I read Alas Babylon about a survived nuke war between the USA and Russia. How I loved the double volume of When Worlds Collide & After Worlds Collide. In 7th grade I read A Clockwork Orange, (not allowed in the library by the way.) What a rebel.

Why the meetings are boring and uninspiring
by UnshackleTheChains ineach individual may have their own views as to why they feel the meetings are boring and uninspiring.
in my case i find the midweek meeting so, because of the constant emphasis on pitching watchtower literature.
its just monotonous and one big yawn.. i watch other christian faiths where they open up a chapter of the bible and discuss it's contents.

Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

Since it is forbidden to act on such desires you only know for sure when they tell you or are DF'd and hanging around other gays. Of course I suspected a few people of such leanings but as has been said, that isn't proof. Don't forget, if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck.....

Creepy, creepy movie "Wanda Nevada"
by James Mixon inwanda nevada (brooke shields) a 13 year old girl and a man 30 some years old (peter fonda) not only expressing their love for each other, but forming a relationship and end up running away together, yes a little creepy.
couldn't sleep last night so around 4 o'clock it was on....the movie made in 1979 what the hell was hollywood thinking when making this movie, a love story romance/westerns......

What about this acclaimed Oscar prospect film, "Call Me by Your Name." About a 17 year old boy in an affair with a 30 something year old man. Hollywood is screaming about all the sex abuse in their industry but are lauding this pedophile showcase for an Oscar? Pull your head out people.

My wife and I just had a wonderful experience today.
by smiddy3 inmy wife was looking through some old diary`s that we have lying around and found a ph.# of an old friend (jw) that we knew over 15 years ago .we were always curious as to what has happened to her as she was a dear friend for many years when we were in the "truth".
so she rings the number (,do you still have the same # that you had 15 yrs ago ?
) and this friend was a bit of a "gypsy" type so she wasn`t expecting much when she rang.. to cut a long story short we all had a good conversation we had been trying to find out about her all these years with no success and she was also trying to find out about us all these years with no success ,we had moved interstate.. nothing was said about religion though i suspect she is still associated with the borg.

Finding a person who is independent in the borg is a surprise. I wish you the best in regaining the friendship Smiddy3.

"Reaching out" in the org and personal confessions...
by Good JW ingoing to be completely honest here, no feelings spared for me.
when i was a jw, one of my biggest motivations for "reaching out" was to become a "somebody".
i loved the idea of being a leader, teaching/training others.

Nice introspection GJW. I too loved to teach. I would have probably had it for a profession if I didn't surrender to the faulty reasoning of "the Truth." I liked to lead also. I liked it because I was good at it and it brought me pleasure to serve others, to give to them. There is something selfish in all we do. I don't feel guilty for being competent. You examined yourself and found something else, I get that. I, on the other hand, accomplished a lot. When I came to realize how people simply took advantage of my kindness I wised up. Learning how bogus the whole organization was also motivated me to "resign" from all responsibilities. Free at last!
